EWB for Non-Engineers
EWB-OC is actively seeking talented professionals of ALL BACKGROUNDS to help us achieve our mission...you do NOT need to be an engineer! In fact, much of the work that is crucial to the success of our projects and organization requires expertise outside of engineering disciplines. Whether you work in a hospital or on Wall Street, your skills can have profound impacts on communities worldwide. Below are just a few examples of how non-engineers are contributing.
Health Professionals
Doctors and others in the health industry are working on overseas project teams as members and advisors. They are designing health assessments and educational material for developing communities in order to document and improve basic health levels. Furthermore, these professionals inform/prepare their team members for overseas health risks, and in some cases, are responsible for the well being of their group during travel.
Marketing Professionals
Marketing professionals are working to promote EWB-OC to both local and international communities. In order to pursue projects, EWB relies on the support of industry, fundraising sources, and international organizations. These professionals are creating educational materials, promotional items, and presentations to raise awareness about our work.
Business / Economics Professionals
EWB's Technology Development Team is working to create a solar coffee bean drier. This team must not only develop a new technology, but must also find economically sustainabLe methods of delivering this technology to small scale farmers. Professionals with backgrounds in economics and business are directly affecting the design and implementation of the drier by assessing its local economic feasibility/impacts.
